Walk-In Closets

When the space allows, the room becomes the system. Considered layout, precise materiality, and the right light for the ritual of dressing.

Walk-In Closets Los Angeles MONO CLOSETS

A walk-in closet is not simply a larger closet. It is a room — and it deserves to be designed as one. The way you move through it, the quality of light at seven in the morning, the decision of where to stand when you dress: these are architectural questions, and we treat them as such.

MONO CLOSETS walk-in systems are designed around three organising ideas: circulation (how you move through the space), storage logic (where everything lives in relation to where you reach for it), and atmosphere (how the materials, lighting, and proportions make the room feel).

01
Circulation first
Before specifying a single rail, we lay out the floor plan. The path through the room, the position of the island or bench, the swing of any doors — resolved before a panel is cut.
02
Storage logic
Every category of clothing has different spatial requirements. Long hang, short hang, folded, shoes, accessories, bags — we map your wardrobe and design the system around it.
03
Island and seating
Where proportions allow, a central island or upholstered bench transforms the room from a storage system into a space. We design these as integrated joinery, not furniture placed after the fact.
04
Light as material
The quality of light in a walk-in closet is as important as the finish of the panels. Integrated LED strip, task lighting at the island, and soft ambient light are specified as part of the system.

Questions

Common questions

What is the minimum size for a walk-in closet?+
A functional walk-in closet requires approximately 5 feet of clear floor space in at least one direction. Smaller than that, a well-designed reach-in system may serve you better.
Island or no island?+
An island makes sense when the room allows 36–42 inches of clearance on each side. We will recommend it when the proportions support it — and not when they do not.
How is lighting integrated?+
We specify lighting as part of the design — recessed overhead, LED strip integrated into shelving, and task lighting at islands. All runs are concealed within the millwork.
What is the lead time?+
6–10 weeks from first consultation to installation day.
