Dressing Rooms

The most architectural expression of personal storage. A designed room — not a large closet.

Dressing Rooms Los Angeles MONO CLOSETS

A dressing room is the only room in a home designed entirely for one person. It deserves to be the most considered room in the house. At MONO CLOSETS, a dressing room project is approached with the same discipline as a kitchen or a library — every dimension resolved, every material chosen for how it will feel ten years from now, every light source positioned for what it needs to do at 7am.

The distinction between a large walk-in closet and a true dressing room lies in the details: a vanity position that accounts for natural light, seating that is integrated into the joinery rather than placed after the fact, a door that closes with the same weight and sound as the rest of the home.

01
Vanity integrated
The vanity position is a function of natural light, mirror placement, and the path from shower to dressing. We design it as part of the room — not as furniture placed after the joinery is done.
02
Seating considered
An upholstered bench or built-in seat transforms a storage room into a dressing room. We design these as fixed joinery, upholstered in materials specified with the rest of the scheme.
03
Lighting layered
A dressing room requires ambient, task, and accent light. We specify each as part of the system and coordinate with your electrician.
04
Material at the highest standard
Lacquer, walnut, glass, brass, polished nickel — we help you choose a material language that belongs to the rest of your home.

Questions

Common questions

What is the difference between a walk-in and a dressing room?+
A walk-in closet is defined by its storage system. A dressing room is defined by the experience of the room as a whole — vanity, lighting, seating, and storage designed together as a single architectural interior.
Can a spare bedroom become a dressing room?+
Yes — and this is one of our most satisfying project types. Converting a spare bedroom allows us to design a full dressing room environment from scratch. Ask during your consultation.
What materials work best in a dressing room?+
Lacquered panels, natural walnut, cane or glass inserts, and polished hardware. We bring a sample box to your home so you can feel every material in your own light before approving anything.
